Consistency trumps intensity

I came across a quote today which was excellent

"... I remembered what was really important in training; that consistency trumps intensity; all the time. That intensity is born from consistency ..."

There was more to the quote than this, but I think it is an interesting perspective on life - specifically my life. I am an intense personality and inconsistent, maximum effort exertion is pretty much my stock in trade approach to everything I do.

I train furiously for short bursts and then have a couple of weeks where I do nothing. I have periods of time where my devotional life is full and then have 'dry times'. There are times when I furiously attack the awn and garden and then other times where I won't pick up a palm frond that has fallen down directly in front of me.

What's up with that? The Whole30 is going to be a good platform for diligence - no weeknight TV and a clear block of time will, I hope, help to focus me and set a pattern of consistency in motion.

I guess we'll see.
